Jacumba Hikers: Bow Willow to Rock House
This approximate 9-mile hike is strenuous and challenging because of the long distance, some boulder climbing, steep/rocky trails, and sandy washes. We will hike to the interesting, remote ‘Rock House’ which was built by Cattleman Darrel McCain in 1933, and we may also see evidence that Kumeyaay ancestor's once lived in the area.
Leaves from IVDM parking lot at 8:00 AM. We will carpool or caravan to the trailhead. CA State Park Day Pass OR $10 parking fee per vehicle required (cash/exact change only).
Please Note: While we do our best to accurately describe the hikes and their difficulty levels, please know your own limits and capabilities! A hike that is easy or moderate for some may be difficult or extreme for others, depending on hiking experience, skill level, and physical capabilities. Also, please be prepared! Comfortable hiking shoes with good traction, 2-3 liters of water, a hat, and a backpack (to carry your own water, snacks, emergency/First-Aid supplies, and other gear) are essential items on these challenging hikes. Hiking poles may be helpful. No dogs allowed!
