Sunset Trail/Big Laguna Loop (6-8 miles)
The first hike of the season will be in the beautiful Laguna Mountains/Cleveland National Forest! This hike is approximately 6-8 miles (700-800 feet elevation gain/loss) on well-maintained trails that wind through oak and pine forests and scenic mountain meadows. It is usually considered a moderately challenging hike, but it may seem difficult for some because of the distance and individual abilities.

• Meet at 8:00 AM at the Meadows Information Station/Kiosk which is located 5.5 miles north of I-8 on Sunrise Hwy (S-1).

• NOTE: An Adventure Pass is required to be displayed in all parked vehicles.

Please Note: While we do our best to accurately describe the hikes and their difficulty levels, please know your own limits and capabilities! A hike that is easy or moderate for some may be difficult or extreme for others, depending on hiking experience, skill level, and physical capabilities. Also, please be prepared! Comfortable hiking shoes with good traction, 2-3 liters of water, a hat, and a backpack (to carry your own water, snacks, emergency/First-Aid supplies, and other gear) are essential items on these challenging hikes. Hiking poles may be helpful. No dogs allowed!
